Leigh - preparations for the production of herringbone joints
In 1980, company founder Ken Grisley was frustrated with having to cut herring by hand and having no other option. Eventually he managed to develop a method that helped him to produce herringbone joints (zinc plating) quickly, easily and accurately. The result was the first ever, continuously adjustable galvanizing jig Leigh TD515. It became an instant sensation in Canada and the United States, and the huge demand for it motivated the founders to develop more power tools.
Initial idea joint milling machines has grown into Leigh Industries. Today, the company continues to focus on innovation and has been awarded many patents and prestigious prizes for its products.
