Selder | Linseed varnish oil - Linolja Fernissa
Code: S10400Product detailed description
SELDER Swedish linseed oil for polishing wood
- For polishing wooden surfaces that are already impregnated with Grundolja base oil
- The desired degree of gloss (silky matt to high gloss) is achieved by varying the grit of the abrasive pad
- For interior and exterior
- Also suitable for pressure-impregnated and highly porous wood
- Fast drying oil - 6-24 hours drying time at 20 °C with good ventilation
- Resistant to grease, petroleum products, salts and household acids (e.g. vinegar, wine, lemon)
- Does not have the problems of conventional linseed oils - does not yellow, does not chalk, dries completely
SELDER Linolja Fernissa linseed oil cures to a water-repellent layer and forms a highly resistant surface. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use. For a complete wood treatment, first apply Grundolja linseed oil or Möbelolja furniture oil and then polish the workpiece with Linolja Fernissa lacquer oil. Select the level of gloss by using a coarser or finer abrasive pad.
The oil is not suitable for floors and other large areas because it dries very quickly. Treat the floors with Golvolja floor oil.
The treated surface is resistant to water, grease, petroleum products, salts and household acids (e.g. vinegar, wine, lemon). SELDER linseed oil penetrates deep into the surface and dries quickly in the air to form linoxin, a natural polymer with good adhesion. At 20 °C and good ventilation, the coating dries within 6-24 hours.
How to use linseed oil for final polishing
- First impregnate the workpiece with basic or furniture linseed oil at least one day before polishing.
- Start polishing with Linolja Fernissa oil with a 500 grit sanding pad. It should be just moistened with oil. If it gets too dry, it will grind the surface. Too wet pad in turn creates oil spots and does not polish.
- To achieve a semi-gloss finish, continue polishing with a 1000-2000 grit pad.
- For high gloss, continue polishing with a 3000-5000 grit sanding pad.
- Use a maximum grit of 100 for polishing the surface, otherwise the surface will be slippery in the rain.
- Wipe the surface with a dry cotton cloth to remove any residual oil and dust.
- Damage is easily repaired by sanding and then polishing the area with oil.
SELDER Linolja Fernissa linseed oil is also used for impregnating pressure-impregnated and other highly porous wood. Heat the oil to 130 °C for impregnation.
SELDER linseed oil does not contain any solvents, drying agents or other additives. It achieves its unique properties through a refining method that removes all the components that cause problems in conventional linseed oils for wood.
SELDER flaxseed oils bust myths about flaxseed oils and ferments
- Short drying time: Regular oil takes a long time to dry and is recommended to be applied in thin layers. - SELDER has solved the problem by removing the antioxidants. SELDER linseed oils dry quickly (1 day at 20 °C), even without the addition of driers.
- No permanent yellowing: Linseed oil contains beta-carotene, which causes painted wood to turn yellow over time. - SELDER has solved the problem of permanent yellowing by removing the beta-carotene. However, the oils are photochromic, i.e. they turn yellow in the dark and fade again in the light within a few hours.
- No chalking of painta: Normal linseed oils tend to chalk and form white spots on the surface on contact with water. - SELDER has solved the problem by removing the saturated fatty acids (stearic and palmitic) and wax.
- No fungicides: Linseed oil alone does not protect against rot, so it must contain fungicides - SELDER protects wood against rot naturally by forming a water-repellent film on the surface. In addition, nutrients for wood-destroying microorganisms (e.g. proteins and saturated fatty acids) have been removed from SELDER oils.
- Solvent and dryer free: Conventional linseed oils contain solvents for better spreadability and driers for fast drying - SELDER produces pure linseed oil without additives. It undergoes a unique refining method and is then boiled in various ways to achieve the optimum viscosity for a variety of uses. The flax fermé is used for various coatings, from wood impregnation to corrosion protection of metals. See the complete SELDER oil range.
