Product detailed description

Swedish linseed oil SELDER for furniture

  • For impregnation and protection of hardwood and fine wood furniture
  • Fast drying oil - 1 day drying at 20 °C and good ventilation
  • Cures to a water-repellent film
  • Resistant to grease, petroleum products, salts and household acids (e.g. vinegar, wine, lemon)
  • Does not have the problems of conventional linseed oils - does not yellow, does not chalk, dries quickly

SELDER Furniture Linseed Oil Möbelolja is specially formulated for the protection of hard, fine and exotic woods. For impregnating other types of wood, use SELDER Grundolja linseed base oil and SELDER Linolja Fernissa linseed oil for polishing.

The treated surface is also resistant to water, grease, petroleum products, salts and household acids (e.g. vinegar, wine, lemon). SELDER linseed oil penetrates deep into the surface and dries quickly in the air to form linoxin, a natural polymer with good adhesion. At 20 °C and good ventilation, the coating dries within one day.

How to use linseed oil on furniture

  • First coat the workpiece with warm furniture oil at 130 ⁰C.
  • The oil soaks into the workpiece to a depth of 1.5-3 mm. It gives the polished surface a deep shine that cannot be achieved with wax or synthetic oils, which only settle on the surface.
  • SELDER linseed oil for furniture does not contain solvents. Therefore, the painted wood does not "develop hair" and does not need to be sanded again.
  • The oil dries for 1 day at 20 ⁰C with good ventilation.
  • The following day, create the desired finish by polishing with linseed varnish oil(SELDER Linolja Fernissa). You choose the degree of gloss - silky matt to high gloss - by using a coarser or finer polishing cloth.
  • Damage can be easily repaired by sanding the damaged wood and then polishing the area with oil.
  • SELDER linseed oil is also safe for application on furniture that is in contact with food (kitchen counters, cutting boards).

SELDER Möbelolja linseed oil does not contain any solvents, drying agents or other additives. It achieves its unique properties through a refining method that removes all the components that cause problems in conventional linseed oils for wood.

SELDER flaxseed oils bust myths about flaxseed oils and ferments

  • Short drying time: Regular oil takes a long time to dry and is recommended to be applied in thin layers. - SELDER has solved the problem by removing the antioxidants. SELDER linseed oils dry quickly (1 day at 20 °C), even without the addition of driers.
  • No permanent yellowing: Linseed oil contains beta-carotene, which causes painted wood to turn yellow over time. - SELDER has solved the problem of permanent yellowing by removing the beta-carotene. However, the oils are photochromic, i.e. they turn yellow in the dark and fade again in the light within a few hours.
  • No chalking of painta: Normal linseed oils tend to chalk and form white spots on the surface on contact with water. - SELDER has solved the problem by removing the saturated fatty acids (stearic and palmitic) and wax.
  • No fungicides: Linseed oil alone does not protect against rot, so it must contain fungicides - SELDER protects wood against rot naturally by forming a water-repellent film on the surface. In addition, nutrients for wood-destroying microorganisms (e.g. proteins and saturated fatty acids) have been removed from SELDER oils.
  • Solvent and dryer free: Conventional linseed oils contain solvents for better spreadability and driers for fast drying - SELDER produces pure linseed oil without additives. It undergoes a unique refining method and is then boiled in various ways to achieve the optimum viscosity for a variety of uses. The flax fermé is used for various coatings, from wood impregnation to corrosion protection of metals. See the complete SELDER oil range.
