For optimal scanning results, it is important to hold the MultiScanner®L550 correctly and move it slowly while scanning.
The following tips will ensure more accurate scan results:
- Grip the handle with your thumb on one side and your fingers on the other. Make sure that your fingertips do not touch the scanning surface or the scanning head of the instrument.
- Hold the instrument flat against the wall and do not turn, tilt, or apply pressure to the instrument as you slowly move it across the surface to be scanned.
- Do not place your other hand or any other part of your body on the surface to be scanned. It would interfere with the accuracy of your device's scanning.
- Do not place your other hand or any other part of your body on the scanned surface. This could interfere with the accuracy of the instrument.
- If you're getting irregular scan results, it could be the result of moisture in the wall cavity, drywall, or recently applied paint or wallpaper that hasn't completely dried. Moisture may not always be visible, but it can interfere with the instrument's sensors. Allow a few days for the wall to dry.
- Depending on the proximity of electrical connections or pipes to the wall surface, the scanner may detect them in the same way. Extra care must be taken when nailing, cutting or drilling into walls, floors and ceilings.
- To avoid surprises, remember that the posts or beams are usually 41 or 61 cm apart and 38 mm wide. If they are closer together or have a different width it may not be a post/rail.
Always switch off the power supply when working near electrical wires.
